Starting in September 2014 New College Swindon will be launching its own cycling team, the New College Cycling Academy.
The aim is to harmonise learning with the development of cycling potential, ultimately preparing cyclists to progress to become elite cyclists with World class performance aspirations.
Members of the Academy will have cycling coaching, training and mentoring sessions alongside their academic programme of A Levels, BTECs, GCSEs or other courses that New College has to offer.
The Academy will offer an individual race programme, a British Cycling membership and the opportunity to develop academic and athletic potential.
The selection criteria to become a member of New College Cycling Academy is based on level of cycling performance in competition as well as commitment to developing and fulfilling cycling potential.
The enrolment process is now open and applications are invited from male and female learners and learners with disability.
The Cycling Academy is supported by Swindon Cycles who will be providing bikes for academy members.

That sounds a great idea.
Do you have an outdoor track or similar facilities in Swindon?0 -
Hi, we don't have a track but we are close to circuits such as Castle Combe, Thruxton, Odd Down etc, and we are less than 1 hour fron Newport Velodrome. It is a great idea; we can give riders 5 hours of coaching for 36 weeks of each year - that's a lot of coaching!!! Plus they get a bike, kit and BC licence. We're making competitive cycling a lot more accessible for the 16-19 learners.0
