Hello there,
I have been trying to find this out, but some say yes, it is compatible, some others say no. (so apologize if there is already a similar post)

Basically I want to upgrade my Shimano 105 groupset,by few part at teh time, and the first one I want to change is the Crankset. I want to replace to a Ultegra FC-6700. Will this FC-6700 Chainrings be compatible with my current 105 cassette and chain?

Thanks in advance

  • Yes they will. In addition pretty much any Shimano Hollowtech II crank will be. Including the latest 6800 "11 speed" models.

The answer to your direct question is yes. But honestly there is no point - unless yours is in need of replacing or you simply want the better label.

There will be no noticable benefit. 105 is perfectly good enough.

Even if you upgraded to Dura Ace full groupset you would wonder why you bothered after a few rides.

  • Thanks for the all the inputs, the idea is go for an osymetric chainring so I need an 130bcd

Just get the chainrings then and fit them to your existing 105 spider.

BCD depends on if you have compact or standard double.

  • thanks, i'll check when I get home. I know its a 53/39, but I was told once it was not 130bcd. I'll double check again.

53/39 equals standard double so should be 130bcd.
