First Road Bike for Brother - Advice Needed

My brother has asked me to look into what bike would be good for him as we wants to cycle a few times a week to improve his cardio. He wants to spend less than £1000 since it's his first but with there being so much choice I'm not sure.
He's 6ft, 11st and regularly does kick boxing so is fit. Carbon should be in budget but he's not bothered if it isn't. It still has to be light with decent kit. I'm not sure how much Sora, Tiagra, 105 vary. I have 105 on my bike and it's been superb. Doesn't have to be the latest model just good value for money.

I have just bought myself a road bike, same budget as you say £1000 and I was torn between the two below. I chose the cube and it's a beast however I think the giant would be just as good!

A few have recommended Planet X but up until this week I'd never heard of them. Are they any good? How is it so cheap even with Ultegra kit on it?0

Unlike big brands they do not have massive advertising and sponsorship budgets to cover so better vfm.
If you check I think the brakes and crankset are not Ultegra but still good quality Shimano products.
I can vouch for the bike as mine is still as good as when I first got it although mine has SRAM gearing, the frame is the same T700 carbon that is used by some bigger brands. The RT57 is also a good buy for the money.0
