Just found out had to post somewhere, if you are an F1 fan then you'll know its a sad day, thoughts go to his family and friends..

John Button, probably the best F1 drivers Dad that i have seen through out the years, always there and always the proud father when times were good, supported his son throughout his career....you could not ask more of a father.

He was a character that seemed to enjoy a few drinks - I could relate to that!

But are you deeply saddened by his passing or offended on behalf of someone who may be offended by our lack of sympathy

  • Sad day when someone's father passes, terrible way to start a year.

F1 is going to miss him in the dads club, there'll never be another man who could pull off wearing a pink shirt.

Thoughts go out to the Button family.

    Changed my mind.

Just found out what an inspiration her father was to Mavis Bingham. He taught her all she knew and bought her first horse and racing plough blade. An inspiration to fathers everywhere.

  • Going back to John Button........there was a nice quote from a BBC F1 type person who said something like

"John was a real 'bon vivuer' and never too far away from a glass of red wine'.

That tickled me that did but I am a simple soul. Lost my dad in May last year -awful - like losing a best friend as well as a father....

It's my dad's birthday today. He's 83 today but he can go f*ck himself.

I've had the pleasure of meeting John a couple of times.
He seemed a great guy and was always personable and seemed ready to make time for people.
A real loss for Jenson and it will be a pity not to meet him again.

Sorry to hear about the rift between you and your old man. But at 83 he is doing well to be able to f*ck anything, himself included.

I'm sure he was. But as somebody who met him you must understand that his death probably has more resonance to you than somebody else that just saw him on the TV.

What s has it to do with being horrible ?
I've never even heard of the guy, so why should I give a monkeys ? Millions of people die every year who I don't know, just because is one has a famous son doesn't mean I should feel any different.

So what if he was human and a nice bloke, I'm sure that he was, but it still doesn't mean that I should have any concern that he's dead.

But if it makes you feel any better R.I.P. Lynda Geter of New Jersey.

This is your problem I'm afraid.
Its not the fact that you didnt know him, nor that you had to say a nice passing sentence about him.
Its the fact that even though you didn't know him, you felt the need to post something that simply wasn't decent. the better thing in your case would have been to say nothing.
