    Beautiful,

and well done for resisting the temptation to fit a horrible ahead stem converter

    Thanks :)

The frame actually came with a 1" Precisa fork with unthreaded steerer (as standard). Thankfully Windwave UK and Colnago themselves were kind enough to swap it out for a NOS threaded fork FOC. I must say I've had great service from both.

  • The quill is a bit less stiff, but so easy to adjust without the need for cutting a fork, fitting spacers and all that nonsense and won't give you any grief, being independent from the headset. It is still the best solution for fit and forget riding.

Stunning, the attention to detail is amazing.

Always wanted a Master but always thought It would be difficult to get the right blend between originality and everyday rideable components which didn't compromise the classicalness of the frame.

This However achieves all of that 100%

    Very well done.

You forgot the downside that it is much harder to shorten the stem with a quill set up if you have to have a few vertebrae taken out which of course happens all the time!

Best bike I've seen on this forum! Would you mind telling us the cost?

(I'm biased...my dad has got a Master-X although not as nice a build as this one...he built it when he was 67...)

Not quite, those are Veloflex tyres and you ride in the UK. I do not see a following team car with spare wheels nor pump/patch kit in the pic.

Thanks for the positive feedback, appreciated. I've spent the last 12 months obsessing over every nut and bolt of the build since my fantastic Wife bought the frame for me in a fit of utter madness. Now looking forward to a bit of decent Spring weather to take it for a spin...in the mean time it's sat in the corner of the bedroom "encouraging" me to improve my form and do it justice.

The pump/patch kit is firmly in the rear of the jersey btw, although I must admit the same thoughts have crossed my mind about the tyres. Probably be swapping them for something a little more rugged for longer rides, I'll guess I'll see how I get on....

I have Veloflex Masters on my best bike, had 1 puncture in 1,600 miles last summer (the life of the rear tyre), so they aren't that bad :)

That is a lovely bike, I'm sure there are many people on this forum just as jealous as me.

    Hi Oxo

Beautiful build, and a great inspiration. I'm busy with a re-build of my candy red 1993 Colnago and will use Campag Athena 11sp groupset - I wanted to ask you where you got the cable adjusters that attach to the old downshifters from?

    cheers
    Nick

    Hi,

All the cable adjusters were supplied with the frameset. Look forward to seeing the build :)

As far as I'm aware, all new Masters come with a 1" Precisa threadless fork as standard. the UK distributor (Windwave) and Colnago managed to source me a NOS threaded fork to replace my threadless set.

    Cheers

It's really nice to see a polished group set instead of black as well!
