    In Italy there are mixed opinions about Bettini as a manager... he didn't do well in his previous job, although some argue he didn't have Bettini in his team... :wink:

    No guarantee - but he has a year to work on it to get the immediate wave through to ProTour just like Sky and GreenEDGE did, if he does want to try for it

    As inrng points out though, it won't be "a new direction for cycling" if he's just going to hire all the old guard in key positions

    He's Spanish and he comes from a sport where exploring the edge of the rules to gain the competitive edge is normal - so why would we expect him to be looking for 'a new direction in cycling' ?
