I'm going to upgrade to 105 components on my Sora bike. Currently I've only bought the brakes. Santa is bringing other bits 'n bobs (if I've been good). I've read that officially the brakes are not compatible with sora shifters. Why is this - isn't it just pulling a cable? Am I good to put these on my bike now or should I wait until I have the 105 shifters?

Because Shimano want you to believe it.

TBF their is sometimes a cable pull difference between models, but in reality you are unlikely to notice. As you say it is just a cable between 2 fixed points.

It may not work to the optimum of what Shimano claim it could, but it will work all the same.
    Yellow is the new Black.

Cheers guys, I thought as much.

edit: Fitted them - they work fine. I can't see anyway in which they could be more optimal with 5700/6700 shifters either.
