OK, lads and lasses, are you all ready for the massive storm? I've got 2 packets of biscuits, so I should be able to hold out for a few days until the rescue services come to get me. I was planning on sacrificing a goat to appease the gods of wind and rain, but Asda was all out.

I reckon they're covering their arrises after Michael Fish farked it so badly in '87. Was very amusing today seeing the hard of thinking stocking up for Armageddon in my local supermarket this lunchtime :)

All trains cancelled until 09:00 at least in the south East because it is going to be a bit blowy.

    Really :?:

Panic buy all the water, petrol and canned peaches you can, just in case.

That might actually be quite sensible. Lots of the lines in the SE have trees all down the side and you wouldn't want one of those coming down in front of a train doing 90 mph.

Indeed, as then there'd be leaves on the line.

Good point, what is the best stormproof jacket? Is it Aldi? or maybe a Rapha one. I want it waterproof but breathable in tdf yellow and a helmet attached.

Get some codeine to go with that and you could brew up a new type of Krokodil.

I was on the beach at Blackpool and it was very very windy, nearly hurricane. The local news predicts it could do £20m of improvements.

By Scottish standards, it will be no more than a light breeze.

The difference being that we'll all be sober enough to notice it. :P

If there is mass flooding and refugees fleeing Essex, will the Bangladeshi's have an aid appeal for us?

...and there we have what you are doing wrong.

PS:- The train services are running empty trains in the early hours to check the condition of the lines.
But giving everyone else a lie-in regardless of the results.

Yes, but isn't the Massive Apocalyptic Storm of Doom forecast to last until about midday?

The Met Office warnings are valid until midday tomorrow here in the SE.

    Pffht.
I still say that come 12:00, everyone will be saying "was that it?"
Apart from the obligatory 3 trees.
I just looked at the Met office forecast for London. Maximum gusts are forecast for 06:00 at 53mph.
That would barely make a weather forecast elsewhere. Man up.

It's all a frikkin' ruse so the lazy bar steward train drivers can have a lie in, I tell ya. There's a fair bit of rain coming down here but there's f*** all wind. And I've gone and blown my lie in by having a dentists appointment tomorrow morning
