    There's a startlist here: http://www.letour.fr/saitama-criterium/ ... iders.html

Froome, Porte, Sagan, Basso, Kittel, Gerrans and Riblon are the big names.

  • they do a 8 lap points race first - then the main race - just what end of season legs need ! is that the full start list? Could have done with a few trackies/crit specialists

EDIT: oh soz, I misread your post - the pic of the riders doing the squats was the one I want to unsee. The sumo guys doing the splits is seriously impressive

Now I know Froome would kick my ar$e in a bike race but I guarantee I could take him in a sumo match
  • How about Kittel, Paul?

Those dolphins in Curucao are going to have to think up something special to top this.

He'd stuff him, rip a leg off, tuck him under an arm then run half-naked up a mountain.

Given this is an ASO event, are we looking at Keirin-style leadouts in future Tours?

Haha, how big is big? I know the "big" cyclists are pretty much normal size. Griepel I would stay clear of to be fair!

Kittel's about 6'2" and 82kg. Think you can take him?

Kittel is bigger than Greipel. If they were boxers they would both be cruiserweights (the one below heavyweight)

Trouble is being 171cm he could hold one arm out and then keep me out of reach, however, 12 years of rugby has taught me that the bigger they are, the harder they fall... ;)

According to unconfirmed reports the Sumo session ended in tragedy when Richie Porte disappeared into one of the wrestler's rolls of fat and suffocated

I'm 5'10" and 85kg so not a bad matchup  I can't contend with that barnet though, that is a superb piece of hair and far surpasses mine  When I used to do Karate our instructor gave us a bit of instruction in Sumo for a laugh one lesson before Christmas, it is a lot harder than it looks to be fair, not just big old units charging in to each other (Although being a unit helps!) Like any sport really, it looks easier than it is. To the layman (See work colleagues) cycling is really simple :-)

20 years of being a Cop has taught me that's a myth....

Sometimes they don't fall, and then you're in a whole world of sh1t.

Is that when the tazer comes out?
  • Good god no, that gets you in a whole world of trouble and weeks of paperwork.

Much easier to fake injury and go for the sympathy vote from Mr Angry.

I think the ASO did stage manage the show, rather well to the end.
With their 2013 TDF man winning the Crit and the other invited riders having their session of the front.
This promotion might get the sponsors, that the ASO are looking for. ?

I got up (for toilet) and watched some of it as it reminded me of the Tour of Poland's Dual Carriageways and the TDF down Plymouth way in 1974.
