Race of the year 2013 (Single day & Stage Race)

I have seen the rider, flop and team of 2013 threads, but unless my search was flawed, no race thread.
There has been plenty of action and excitement to choose from in 2013 although a lot of purists will probably complain about some of the racing.
Here are my options...
Single Day
Milan/San Remo - without question. You know the whether is bad when a member of the breakaway has a mudguard on.
Stage Race
I suppose most people will go with the Giro but for spectacular scenery and the return to form of Thor Hushovd I am going for the Arctic Race of Norway.
Amazing photos and tv coverage and tense breakaways for most of the days. A brilliant example being the flyover that linked fjords being a KOM!

.. the Giro was awful. Can't imagine anyone picking it as the best race of the year
Best Stage race - Le Tour - there wasn't really a bad stage in the whole 3 weeks, plenty of drama, excitement, and good stage wins.
Best one day? I really enjoyed Milan San Remo and Paris-Roubaix this year - PR edges it since it didn't have a bus transfer in the middle oh and the Cancellara-Vanmarcke duel for the win was incredible.

Agree on PR. First time I've seen it. Spent most of it thinking "this is batsh1t mental!", and what an incredible finish.0

Yeah, if it had happened to Cancellara he probably would still have won. I think my theory about Vanmarcke winning if he had a deep section rear wheel at the finish holds as much water!Rick Chasey wrote:
