Any bargain shoes out there with a ratchet? <£100

Evening all,

my bro is over from Italy and is after some new shoes to replace his 16 year old Sidi's whose tread is finally crumbling off!

He is after either SPD or SPD-SL shoes, has both pedals, and wants a ratchet, rather than just velcro.

I have been trawling and found some decent offerings on Planet X and CRC, just wondered if anyone else had seen any?

Budget - under £100.

New Bont Riots look rather nice & are heat mould-able.

Some good deals here depending what size he is
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?

Very nice , any idea how the Bonts compare to Specialized for those of us with stupidly wide feet? I currently use specialized size 46 which fit well

Not sure how they compare directly, but get a tape measure and try this.

I have wide feet and switched from Spesh to Bont without any issues. The newer Bont's have a choice of widths anyway.
  • AFAIK Bont Riots come in one standard width, I had issues with the amount of force I had to apply to mould them to fit my wide feet.

Shimano R088 for my commute. £60 on Wiggle or CRC. Takes both SPD and SPD-SL.

Lidl/Aldi sometimes have Crane shoes in about £15 with ratchet, wear them myself for last 3 months no probs with SPD. I am very much a cheap cyclist :)

If they did those in black...

I have sent him those too, and a member off here has some shoes to sell that may be of interest if they are the right size.

I don't think there is a never ending line of ratchet shoes under £100 is there?

Anyway, thanks for the tips guys and suggestions, much appreciated and I have directed my Bro to this thread - also found quite a few likely candidates on the bay of e.

  • Evans have limited sizes of Spiuk ZS11 carbon shoes in road and mountain flavour. I picked a pair up a few months back and they've been great.
