Handy for me... Falls right between getting son to college bus and off to work myself. Avoids the possibility of housework here

Mostly flat stages but I thought I heard there was a mountain top finish on one stage, be interesting to see how the Chinese spectators behave.

A win for Thor, timed it well on the line, did most of it in the saddle!

Cheese barely exists in China because 90% of Chinese are lactose-intolerant, although whether this is because of genes or simply because they don’t drink milk as children is still being debated. The government there seems to think the latter, because they’ve erected placards showing happy children drinking milk as encouragement to increase milk consumption.
Most Chinese regard cheese, for them milk which has gone completely off, with the same distaste as we westerners do about them eating grubs, larvae and ants. Consequently up to recently cheese (imported Swiss varieties) was only available in cities with European communities.
This, however, may change now that a Chinese cheese is being produced. The factory was opened by a Chinese man who studied cheese-making in France and his first cheese is called ‘Beijing Gris’, so named because of its grey colour.

That was a strong finish from Hushovd, coming from a fair way back. Might the last few hundred metres have risen slightly, so suited him? I couldn’t quite tell from the film I saw and I had no commentary on.

Maes (3rd) did much the same as Hushovd too, in fact was even finishing slightly faster.

Mezgec (2nd) is becoming a sprinter who regularly ‘places’ but never wins.

Thor won... couldna' win his own tour stages but can in mighty Beijing? He's either major league showing off or the others weren't trying that hard in the last race of the season. Errr....

The one plus point from suffering a fractured clavicle, two fractures of the scapula and a collapsed lung is that I've found something more painful than listening to Carlton Kirby. Just.

I'm inclined to think there are riders in Beijing right now who'd want your diagnosis..

An exciting last 20k and a good sprint finish. Good lesson from Bouhani about moving around to find the gap. Excellent win, full credit.

Proper mountain stage today though for the climbers.

The last 3-4 km were alright but it's hard to describe how awful this race is.

Not an incredibly exciting race apart from the mountain stage but better than nothing at this time of the year. Great scenery, I could do without the 'look at what we're building here' shots all the time though, I would prefer to see the ancient temples and great wall than a quarry, it makes it like an advert for Chinese industry!
