I am not familiar with North Yorkshire but what you might want to do is to identify all the urban centres that can accommodate visitors for a few nights plus parking. The hardcore will cycle out from there but it would be nice if a park and cycle was available for the less enthusiastic cyclist. Families (young children who can't cycle far) who want to take in the atmosphere can either drive to one of the hubs although you'll need to be prepared for potential gridlock if the car-parking fills up quickly so best to close the race route to cars early or you can lay on bus services to the spectator hubs.

If you've got any branch line train stations located near the route, see if you can convince the train companies to lay on regular services for race day and then cyclists and pedestrians can travel out that way and not have to deal with parking or traffic.

If you stick all that info in a leaflet or the tourist board website that would be ace!

Great idea! Any carparks within 5-10 miles of the route would be ideal! We live in Durham (about 75mins drive from Buttertubs) and are planning on our viewing of it, can imagine every single climb being rammed, especially after watching this years ToB go up the likes of Honnister.
