torgue on crank arm thingy

hi does any one know what torgue I need to tighten the chain set on.I,ve put it on ok and pinched it up just need to torgue it.
thanks.
btw did a search couldn,t find anything.

  • If it is the 2 pinch bolts on a shimano external BB crank then 12Nm. If it traditional crankbolts 40Nm

    thanks, its a single bolt and the crank is the square one(if the crank is the bit that sticks out the bb).

    Just do it up as tight as you can. Unless you're using a 1m breaker bar it won't be too tight.

  • They can be done too tight I get them in the shop sometmes so tight that the bolt start to round that is not good. So far I have got everyone out but one day I won't. 40Nm please so you can get undone one day.
