Among the many fantastic quotes in that piece, I think my favourite is:

" . . . They believe that the UK in particular is a hotbed for "witchcraft", because of the popularity of J K Rowling's Harry Potter books.

"The spells and things that you're reading in the Harry Potter books, those aren't just something that are made up, those are actual spells. Those are things that came from witchcraft books," says Tess. . ."

    Brilliant stuff!

That picture of them reminds me of Buffy :D

I'd be happy for them to rid me of my demons
"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

If you have nothing to believe in then I will appear to be bonkers
  • "We think it's okay to train teenagers to get drunk and have sex"

Well without proper training they could just be getting drunk and not having sex, or having sex and not getting drunk. Both of which are entirely unacceptable, clearly. It's both or neither.

    I particularly liked

"I don't know what happens but somehow you bond when you're punching one another"

At least that explains why me and the OH are so close :D

    [off topic]

Do those painkillers mean that you are in so much discomfort that you only write short sentences?
Can you answer the following please?

    1. Why are you in pain (sorry if I missed it, most things go over my head)?
    2. Is it 'cos of a bike accident? or
    3. Is it because of an op? or
    4. Did Yossie send you a ticking parcel? and
    5. In all cases, can we have some pics 'cos its getting bloody dull round here?

    Ta.

In the I Player link, before setting out on their horses they actually ask God to protect them from Snakes and Bicyclists.

They must of met Yossie or know where Cleat and Aggieboys gone?
  • Cleats gone, forget about him....he was never here.......... :?

I tried to watch that but I was in danger of bringing up lumps the moment it got to "we thank you Lord God for these horses to ride" or some such, and so immediately stopped it.

Yup it is getting temporarily dull around here...

My post should have read it, not I... Makes a huge difference to the context..was going to post summat about personal experience of demonic possession but chickened out because I didn't want to sound like a loony!

    Thanks for asking...
Basically I decided to throw myself of my bike on the Tarka trail in early July ... Discovered gravity and inertia and its effect on the human body and found out that I'm allergic to Tarmac. Had a nee nah and full theatre job and verdict was punctured lung, 2 ribs and a distal clavicle. Needed plating but couldn't do it till lung sorted out... Had op three weeks later and been slowly recovering since and being old its taking time. Can't work, can't drive and can't cycle. On exercise bike for a while and now have my roubaix attached to a tacx turbo and getting some fitness back. Off later today to fracture clinic to see consultant and hopefully get all clear, wean off painkillers and get on with more advanced physio. Therefore lots of time to banter on BB. You lot are a load of git's but you've helped me in a small way to keep in touch with reality!

Hi Mikey! Sorry to hear of your off. I managed to do both sides of my shoulders plus ribs and pelvis. Had the ops last week and feeling rather sorry for myself now. Want to get going with getting fit again, but I know I should let everything recover properly, but its difficult finding that balance.

    Thank good ness for ibuprofen!

Your not a Loony! I always thought that was a mandatory pre requisite to being Cornish.

The Wicker Man and original 73 Exorcist are two of my favourite films, I am assured by my mate from Bodmin that they are just everyday occurrences in Kernow.

As for the accident, what do you expect if you go off roading on Trials full of Rabid Otters (their still mad about what Terry Nutkins did to them!)

I thought you were on here lots because you are either of the student type persuasion or a grave dodger

We certainly are, glad to have been of assistance!!

Hope the fracture clinic goes well :)

Yup, Cornwall.. Two career choices, Methodism or devil worship.... Bless it! Not proper Cornish but wouldn't want to be anywhere else...
Couldn't get anywhere safer than the cycle trail... But I managed it and at 20mph.. Still don't know how it happened, don't think the guy I was riding with deliberately ran me off but we must have touched
@p gosh that sounds nasty... Ibuprofen and codeine and paracetamol in a cocktail for me.. The stuff they gave me in the ambulance was the best though, morphine I think. I was away with the fairies. And listen to the experts re recovery times. I does take the time they say it does

Anyways, my critique of the article is that these guys are counterfeit... They are too happy to advertise themselves and hide behind their pretty young girl persona... And they charge for it too. I know the article is joked up and slightly taking the pi$$ but I get bad vibes...

I do however believe that their are evil spirits, demonic presences, call them what you will at work in the world and have had some limited personal experience. Any charismatic or evangelical believer would have no difficulty in dealing with and for nowt. i suspect that my fellow correspondents herewith are of a different philosophical persuasion so won't expand...

I have no issues with people believing in this sort of thing if they want to, its the clear commercialisation and rhetoric involved that i find laughable. The way people like this operate is by targetting the vulnerable.

In my illustrated guide to witchcraft and wizzardry, the cure for a non-beleiver is to put the non-believers testicles in a vice until wafer thin and a statuatory 26cm in circumference. Are you gong to stick to your statement?

The middle one is also a Ginge, in some cultures they believe that gingers are posessed or lack a soul.

Yup, targetting the vulnerable and making money at the same time... Pretty shabby and shameful IMO

Back from fracture clinic. X rays show that break is not fully healed and that mobility is severely restricted therefore physio is needed urgently, still can't work, drive or cycle ... And see me again in 4 weeks. Not brilliant ...
Better get on with my part time exorcism business

I bet that's what he was hoping for, either that or something to do with those crucifixes

Don't upset those girls....they'll get cross

And sorry to hear of your recent setback Mikey. I am in similar situation that I know I have to keep still to let the bones knit together, but I want to keep a bit mobile so my mucles don't forget what to do. I'm not thinking of turbo or anything that active. Just walking from front room to back! But if sitting still is what it takes...

and Tour of Britain on ITV4 starting Sunday might help too :D
