over the last week of so my rear brake has been feeling very stiff to use, the lever feels quite stiff and there seems to be quite a lot of resistance on the cable when pulled. The calliper seems to be working fine when the cable is disconnected, but when out riding there is little to no stopping power in the rear brake. Can anyone shed any light on this for me??
Thanks

When did you last replace or clean the brake cable? Also, you should expect little stopping power in the rear brake anyway. The rear is generally only much good at slowing rather than stopping.

Probably the cable needs to be lubricated, or replaced.
Look closely, and if there are any broken wire strands, then replace the cable.
If cable looks ok, there release the cable from the caliper, and clean & lube the ends WITHOUT removing it ( re-treading a used cable can be difficult...).

Could also be a kink in the cable. Replacing the cable inner will most likely fix the problem and is cheap and quite easy to do.
