what grease do I need for doing wheel hubs.

    You can get a five litre tub of that stuff, but try keeping it contaminent free for the rest of your life.

    Any grease. I have had a tub of Lucas oil for about 5 years now.

    I've found if you ride in the rain a lot, some auto greases aren't water resistant enough-especially in the rear hub. If contaminated with water, and left a long time the grease fails leaving a rusty mess.
    Marine grease has better water resistance and contains more rust inhibitors. Anything with aluminium complex or calcium sulfonate base work very well.

    You should be checking the bearings on a bike used through the winter or in muddy, wet conditions a bit more often anyway.

    Any standard grease would be fine. I have a tin of standard Comma multipurpose grease that is perfectly good for most jobs. Weldtite TF2 red grease and Finish Line teflon are good. Weldtite white Lithium grease is more like a paste, I wouldn't use it for bearings.

    I use Weldtite TF2 Red for almost everything on the bike - never had a problem with it. I use copper slip on pedal threads but pretty much everything else is Weldtite TF2

    Although the grease is red the tube is green !!!

    I use it with a grease gun which helps when pushing into holes/bearing spaces and help keep the unused grease in the tube clean and contaminant free.

    I bought a separate grease gun but you can get the tf2 grease with a gun in a single pack:
