If I am affronted, feel bullied or whatever, I will deal with it myself. The only thing that would make me feel small would be someone interceding because they thought I was weak or needed protecting from a few, at the end of the day, anonymous words.

can we assume this is the case for most people or do we have to 'opt in', what do you think you daft old sod? :D

Doing something that would make someone feel small, would that be classed as bullying?

Plural of forum is fora, although I realise it is not the pragmatic solution. I know you don't care :D
The use of English or Latin plurals for words commonly accepted into the English language with a contemporary meaning is a point of debate. If I was talking about Roman Forums, I'd probably say Fora. Internet Forums are English derivations of the Latin noun used to describe a modern concept and can use English grammatical rules (in fact, they should).

that is why I said that I realised that its use was NOT pragmatic

    pragmatic |pragˈmatik|
    adjective
dealing with things sensibly and realistically in a way that is based on practical rather than theoretical considerations

of course it makes sense to use an s to pluralise in english, I aggree with you although I reserve the the right not to care :D

    Are you bullying me?

Winces at incorrect spelling of the word agree... Then spends the next few minutes sweating over whether this is irony or not before reaching for the call the mod button (bit like the ones in hospital when the nurses never come)

Oh did I mention I fell off my bike? ;-)

Yep. But only because I have some underlying 'issues' and feel the need to take it out on somebody else. I think it's because I wet the bed.

No disrespect meant to anyone here but what is the alternative ?
The mods leave people to upset others without a care ? surely you would all moan at them even more then ?

Freedom of speech is one thing, downright rudeness and nastyness is another and both have been shown aplenty on this forum at times.

I actually think the censors do a pretty reasonable job (I use the words censor as I dont want to be seen talking about moderators), it cant be that easy, some of the comments on here can be a little antagonistic or self righteous at times and its probably easier locking threads rather than enter into a mass debating session. Given some of the recent headlines about bullying, even though this is a fairly laid back (well except for some of the commuter threads) forum I guess as a censor you have have to be right on your knuckles to CYA.
Life isnt like a box of chocolates, its like a bag of pic n mix.

Never seen this on this forum.

No-one is deliberately being rude or nasty.

Is this how you see the people on here?

You mean just like in real life ? Except there is an 'off' button on your computer which makes the whole thing go away as you can ignore that thread forever more.

True but as a concept it does not exist in English or Scottish Law. We don't have the equivalent of the US First Amendment.

So, its just like real life, apart from the above mentioned 'off' button.

As ive stated several times, it didnt effect me, how can my life change for the worse because a guy on here calls me stupid for getting fit on a trainer bike ? Ive dealt with much bigger things in my real life so thats a walk in the park.

The issue is that others could feel differently when they are attacked, not everyone has the ability to shrug it off.
I would guess that maybe 95% of adult members here can but its the 5% that are the concern.

We are all talking about this subject but the real issue is why ?
Why be nasty and rude ? being ok with people has done me well, I would suggest those angry people try it for a week, life will be better I assure you.

    A whole week????
  • I didnt mean to suggest you had that issue, just that the issues exist, and there are solutions.

They really aren't - a concern that is. If they cannot cope with a few harsh words on the forum, then they will have much bigger issues elsewhere and solving the forum issues will make no difference to their life. They still have the 'off' button and some people need to get over things and move on.

Darwin will take care of them along with people who cross the roads without looking, people who play with fire and people who watch X factor and think its really good.

Of course I dont expect those who I beleive are rude to accept what im saying as to them it may just be general daily life.

There really is no point, your quite clearly a clever man so can work it out for yourself.
One thing I've found odd is that the person looking for hookers whilst biatchin at me has been viewing the thread consistently yet failed to respond which is very uncharacteristic like.

Is there not a difference between bullying or being rude, and taking the p!ss when the levels of idiocy make it rude not to ?

Ironically, one of the people who was mocking me on one of my early post about cars was filling out online payday loan applications at the same time as having a pop at me. Another who was arguing about what I thought was indecent pictures of a young movie star was on the website adultwork.com so to me its horses for courses.

I got the idea of going back to see who was arguing with VTech. I thought it may have been the thread about Emma Watson. Well would you know it, the thread looks like it has been deleted. :(
