Bought to replace my OnOne Whippet as I just couldn't get on with it. A bit of a weight penalty on the climbs but it by far makes up for it on the straights and descents.

I changed out the bars for Answer Pro Tapers, new Fizik Tundra 2 saddle, XT cassette 11-32, Ritchey Foam Grips, XT pedals. These brought the weight down from 28.8lbs to 27.4.
Next will be the wheels to a light xc set.

Raced Rnd7 of the North East Xc series and it really was flawless. Finished 4th in the seniors, also beat all my personal bests on Strava at my local, Hamsterley Forest.

I love the twin lock feature, very handy for sprint starts and climbs. Once up to speed the 29 wheels carry it very well. For a 100mm travel bike it also descends very well, a lot more confidence compared to the OnOne.

    Any other plans other than new wheels?

    Out of curiosity, you chose 100mm travel, why? Is this due to the terrain and area your normally cycle?

    J?ut curious as to why people pick different travel lengths, I have just ordered 120mm recon golds, stepping up from 100mm crappy suntours, I do mostly XC and the terrain where I am can be really rough, esp at high speeds. So was with the assunption that 120mm will be more forgiving with my terrible riding.

    Which on-one did you have before? A whippet? If so I'd be very interested in how you found it, and how it was specced!

    Just the wheels for now, the rest of the bike is about right. Any more upgrades will be very costly as mostly XT stuff on it anyway.

    I've never needed any more travel than 100mm, I'm quite a light rider at 74kg so the bike doesn't really take a hammering on the downs. I ride black runs no problem with 100mm, it's a compromise between comfort, weight and climbing efficiency. I did have a set of 120mm bombers that I upgraded to on a Boardman Team, it completely messed the geometry up. The front wheel would lift up on steep climbs and made the front end twitchy on the descents.

    I had the On One Whippet. Bought the frame and transered the parts over from my Kone Hei Hei 100 as the frame was goosed. Don't get me wrong, the bike was a flying machine but it was just too harsh for me. I sacrificed speed for a little bit of comfort when I bought this Scott Spark.

    Nice choice of bike though, really nice.....
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
