Travelling / Flying advice with your bike

Planning a trip to France to ride around the Portes du Soleil in September, flying into Geneva and staying in Chatel. I have taken my mountain bike a few times with Easyjet and had no problems but I am worried about the safety of my road bike on the flight as its a tad more fragile than my DH MTB. Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.

A hard case is your best option. I got mine from EBC in a sale for £99. The dhb version from wiggle is identical. The clips are pretty fragile but it has served me well despite being a faff to pack. Small frames are easier to pack and if you have an ISP your stuffed. I wouldn't travel with any less protection but some do.
You can hire hard cases or someone in a local club may have one.
BA and Air France will not charge you extra if it weighs below 22 Kg (which it shouldn't).
Pack your helmet, shoes and pedals in a different bag just in case your bike goes for an extra little 'trip'.
Youtube has a few good videos gcn and cotty are worth a look.
Why tidy the house when you can clean your bike?
  • Thats perfect, I have managed to source a hard case and ready to go. Thanks for the advice much appreciated.
