Ok this thread isnt brilliant, it's not meant to be, it's meant to be plain, boring, ordinary

My contribution - tarmac, thats pretty ordinary.
The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.

I think it may actually be comic genius. Or not. Who knows? I've got a suspected fractured spine and am off my face on pain killers, morphine and red wine while sitting in the sun.

It's obviously humour for a higher level of being that has been lost on a mere forum mortal such as myself

PS I am extracting the urine from the ex pats here and not about your suspected injury, which must be fornicationly painful in case any one thinks I am a heartless fatherless person, hope you will be fighting fit soon.

PPS not using swear words is really difficult, now going offline for a tourettes moment :D

C'mon, spill the beans - how did you manage that? Any gory pics? Have you got TDV running around you in a French maids outfit pouring sympathy all over you and you can't do anything about it? Can we have some pics of her, if you haven't got any of yourself?

50kg pack plus webbing and shooter plus 15 mile patrol in stinking heat - stress fracture. Frickin' hurts. Did it on Sunday, couldn't feel most of my body on Monday but got on with life as pain is just weakness escaping the body, then went to see a mate who's a scab picker yesterday for a chat and he got all serious and moved 1/2 pint of blood out of the affected area. Straight to radiology. Am now on morphine and champagne as can't be bothered to go to the garage for more red.

Should all be ok as it just a stress fracture. Back to work on Sunday am.

I got home and told TDV what had happened so she got me to move some bookshelves and a double bed. I'll try and pap some piccies when she's asleep tonight but last time I did that she caught me and kicked me in the gooch so hard I sand like a castrato for a week.

Bets part was n1 child came up and was all sympathetic, n2 child came up and hit me with a hammer as he thought it was funny. Well, it was but it did take a couple of moments of deep breathing and looking at TDV's cleavage to smile again.

Thank you - sympathy accepted gratefully. As a secondary sympathetic manner, can you post some piccies of Nina from Nina and the Neurons' norks? If you have to photoshop some I really don't mind.

Given that the Edinburgh Festival is upon us it is time for some culcha:
    The Ordinary Women
Then from their poverty they rose,
From dry catarrhs, and to guitars
    They flitted
    Through the palace walls.

    They flung monotony behind,
Turned from their want, and, nonchalant,
    They crowded
    The nocturnal halls.

    The lacquered loges huddled there
    Mumbled zay-zay and a-zay, a-zay.
    The moonlight fubbed the girandoles.

And the cold dresses that they wore,
In the vapid haze of the window-bays,
    Were tranquil
    As they leaned and looked

From the window-sills at the alphabets,
At beta b and gamma g,
    To study
    The canting curlicues

Of heaven and of the heavenly script.
And there they read of marriage-bed.
    Ti-lill-o!
    And they read right long.

The gaunt guitarists on the strings
    Rumbled a-day and a-day, a-day.
    The moonlight
    Rose on the beachy floors.

    How explicit the coiffures became,
The diamond point, the sapphire point,
    The sequins
    Of the civil fans!

    Insinuations of desire,
    Puissant speech, alike in each,
    Cried quittance
    To the wickless halls.

Then from their poverty they rose,
From dry guitars, and to catarrhs
    They flitted
    Through the palace walls.
