New commuting bike

Right, have come into a little money so that rather than getting the charge repaired after my off, I can afford a new bike. Want a steel frame with rack and mudguard fittings as well as a non carbon seatpost so that the boy can be towed on his trailer bike. Want something relaxed in geometry.
I have been looking at the Genesis Equillibrium 00 as it looks to be good value and can be had mail order for £680. Happy to spend up to £1000 on the right bike.
Suggestions?

Good point. The 00 comes in at 10.5kg or so.RIP commute...
