Chamois cream anyone?

To date all the rides I've done have been sub 50kms. I've never suffered from chafing of saddle sores. However this weekend I'm having a bash at the South Downs, ~100miles in a day so thinking about lubing up for it. What do people recommend? From a bit of searching around on the various sites these are 3 that seem pretty good, but there are loads out there with good reviews. Want something that's long lasting.

    Those 3 may be pretty good.
    Did searching not suggest Assos was awesome?

    yes that is mentioned a lot, looks good, very popular, but I was a little put off by one review on this site saying:

    "Too much reapplication needed, and its a nightmare if you sweat a lot or get caught in a rainstorm! I personally prefer a new product called nubutte. In my opinion, and my friends that I have recently converted :-) nubutte far outperforms ASSOS. Its all-natural, lasts through rain, heals up any existing saddle sores, reduces pain during rides. Sorry ASSOS fans, but I just could never go back . . ."

    Also quite a few people saying they've switched to something else after they changed the formulation.

    Yes and i much prefer the Enzo's cream over Assos. I agree with the quote you found! I have used both creams over long distances and i found myself wanting to re-apply the assos cream (Although i couldnt find any suitable place to do so) Think i will stick with the Enzo's cream, much better IMO

    I've used Assos and Endura chamois creams for long rides, and have to say that the Assos is better at preventing chafing and crotch rot.
    Someone (El Cap, maybe?) recommended chamois cream for a 10 hour endure a couple of years ago, and I'm glad I was made aware of this dirty little secret of cycling!
    Wouldn't bother heading out for a 3hr+ride without it now.

    Sudocrem is pretty good too, been nicking it off the kids for a while
    pity those who don't drink, the way they feel when they wake is the best they will feel all day

    Nah, Sudocream's good afterwards, if you're got some bad chafing, but it's not thick enough, an doesn't stay put well enough compared to the others.

    Doesn't stay put!!!!!!!!!!! There speaks a man who hasn't had it painted on his tv by a 2 year old! 4 hours is as good as it gets lately, I'll invest if I get a pass for anything longer!

    hahaha brilliant. that must've been a bitch to get off. I know someone who as a toddler painted their tv with white paint. So far we've come through unscathed, but a long way to go with a 3y/o and 5 month old!.

    I am using Bepanthen nappy cream at the moment I rub it into the pad of my inner shorts and it lasts well on a mega hot 4 hour ride. I started using it when I went to get 2 of my tattoos re inked and the tattoo guy said to use it to stop itching. One day I was out of my usual arse lard in a rush to get ready and I thought why not whats the worst that can happen. It stops chafing and doesnt disappear when you sweat like some.

    Tried a few, by far the best is nubutte. Smells nice and made with natural organic ingredients.

    I used to have to get it from the US, but Planetx are doing it now http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/HNN ... 4oz_(118ml).

    Assos rules, and the sweating thing is rubbish, I have a foot in both MTB and Roadie camps and use it for both, on Sat in the obscene heat and humidity I put in 94 road miles, drank 3.5 litres of water and didnt pee once, ie I sweated it all out and the assos was still going strong to the end. I used to get soreness after 20 miles but since using assos I get zero bum issues!
    My biggest fear is that should I crash, burn and die, my Wife would sell my stuff based upon what I told her I paid for it.
