Yeah, i rode the 52 yesterday. Never done anything like this before and really enjoyed it - apart from my chain snapping on lap 3! Managed to get it sorted and finish the ride.

Did the 13 mile ride with my 9 year old - still got a decent score, 165th out of 7000 people! Details here: http://www.greatcycle.org/Results/Compare/334/6760r334c7214r334 (I let Sam finish first).

I thought it was a good ride, really good session on the bike, enjoyed riding over the Mancunian Way! I'd be keen to know if / where the photos get published, be good to see all of the course shots.

I did the 52m, too - and have to say it was fantastic!
I wasn't terribly excited about it beforehand but the closed road experience, organisation and attendance blew me away.

may not have been you but i did see a guy on the left of the track trying to thread his chain back on.

organisation was excellent. totally different from other rides iv been on.
but of a shame the excellent photos cost an arm and a leg..

luckily i found a good pic of me in the Daily Mirror and Manchester Evening News..

Yeah, sounds like it could have been me. It was about 1.5 miles into the lap on a right hand bend. I was on the left hand side of the road with a steward trying to get it sorted. Had to run out into the road to grab the chain, think there was a few un impressed riders but i made sure there was a big gap plus being a bend i'd guessed they'd have been slowing down.

Yeah, thought it was over for me. Managed to finish in 2.33 so pleased with that, lost about 8 mins trying to get it sorted.
  • Really enjoyed the day.

Shame the photos are exorbitant really or I would have bought them.

I managed 2:45 on my longest ever ride. So nice to be able to just push on a nice flat route, too many hills round here for my liking.

I was there too. Did the 26 mile ride after you lot. Had a number of crashes too. Saw two that where quite big as they caused a jam of riders.
