Steel race Frameset

I've been looking at going down the steel route to build a bike that I'd mostly use for crit races next season. Would like to have an aggressive bike that could put up with a fair amount of abuse and I know I could rely on.
Very attracted to the Condor Super Acciaio.
Before I get too obsessed with this frame, can anyone recommend any alternatives for a steel race bike that are in a similar price-bracket (about 1k for frameset)?

I took the Super Acciaio out for a spin a couple of months ago and it is a lovely frame. Very stiff where you want it but being steel still soaks up road buzz brilliantly.
I'm pretty sure you could go custom with the Condor if you needed it too. I know there is the option to do custom paint...0 -

Super Acciaio is a pretty great bet if you want a steel race frame. I rode a crit on one and thought it was excellent- the tapered headtube and big bottom bracket made a difference (vs. other steel frames) in my opinion.
Condor can do custom geometry and paint if you need/ fancy it0 -
Aren't the Madison Genesis team racing on Steel frames this year?
[edit] Yes they are... the Genesis Volare, although I'm not sure it's available to buy, and if it is, being 953 it won't be cheap.0 -
The Super Accacio looks more like a carbon frame because of all the shaped tubes. I ride with three people who own them and love them. All are battleship grey with white logos. I think some of the Rapha Condor team have raced on them too. BB30 though.Pegoretti

Latest on the Genesis website suggests that they are considering launching their 953 race bike in 2014 so not much use to the OP unfortunately

I had been trying to hunt down what Madison Genesis were using. Thanks for the link Arlowood. Wondering if it might be worth hanging on to seeing what it'll be like when in full production.
From the sounds of it though, the Condor would be a fairly safe bet for delivering what I need.0 -

I've had a Gios Compact Pro for some years now. Can't fault it. And it's a lugged frame, if you're looking for something a little different and or unique as opposed to the standard carbon cookie cutter look.0
