anyone know if there is anywhere to check if a bike is stolen
found this site and claims all the police stations use it

but know someone who had a cube acid stolen from Stourbridge last week
reported it to police but its not showing on there

    going to ask at the police station tomorrow
    if there is a website where buyers can check serial numbers to see if they have been reported as stolen
    if not why not ??

    as think it would be a good idea if they done a site where you can check what they are buying
    if they done this would probably reduce bike theft as would make it harder to sell them on if they can be checked

    http://www.checkmend.com/uk/help_types is another site that could be used to check if its stolen. This is used by some police forces (not sure if all). The only downside is it needs the owner to report the theft to the police and give as many identifiers as possible (inc serial number).
