Hi,

I would like to upgrade the crank-set on my Sl5 its quite poo at the moment and being a heavy lad and I'm hitting more trails think the bike needs a make over.

Do you have some suggestions on a good set for around £200?

Why is it poo? There's plenty of other stuff I'd upgrade before that, assuming you haven't already. If it really does need changing, any Shimano from Deore up would be good. Personally, I'd go with SLX for the best mix of strength, weight and value.

I assume poo is a technical term but above my grade.
Without knowing what it is, it's difficult to make suggestions.
But as above plenty of things make bigger differences than cranks.

The 3.1 is square taper, the 5D isn't poo, I'd use it until it has a problem (as it's worth pennies at most now) and then replace it.

You don't have a shock, just forks...
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

Upgrade your fork, I don't know what model year your bike is but on an SL5 I assume it will be an RST or low end suntour.
