Odd question really, but how much is enough?

GOt my assos stuff and applied tonight before a ride. I thought it was quite a liberal application, but was starting to chafe in the nether regions by mile if not before. So do I need to apply more or buy new shorts? They are pearl izumi ones.

chafing within 30 miles with no chamois cream at all would be bad

you can't get a new bum, so it's shorts and/or saddle that need replacing

Thought it might be, but question still stands. Is it a liberal coating or minimal spread

Apply it the way you like your toast buttered.

It's a personal decision, but for me it's a liberal spread....lower cheeks & inner thighs.

I'm poor so I have to make it last, just a schmear for me

This is what I was thinking. I bought the assos stuff after reading reviews and a 12 quid a tub its not cheap

Personal choice really but liberal for me I don;t bother with inner thighs as never suffer with any issues but landing gear & derrière get an application.

Plus would suggest that you perhaps try a different brand until you find one that works for you & your parts.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

Trying different brands is a good idea, some are definitely better than others. Also it's worth paying attention to specific areas that get rubbed the most. My legs get it worse than anywhere else, and some of my shorts are worse than others too.
