As a current cycle mechanic at Halfords I like to get my teeth into the new bikes and stock coming out but I'm yet to find an actual date thus far! I know that the Hoodoo and Bantu are being released as 2013/14 models along with the hybrid Marasa. They are not available on the Halfords webby yet but I'm pretty sure they're due in the next couple of months.

Any news on this? Do you know if it has a 2x10 drivetrain?

As far as I know, as oxocube said, the bike is on the system but no details are out yet, the codes are there but no sales information. It was coming up at around £479.99 or £489.99 I cant quite remember the exact price. The bike will probably be in the shop before any info comes out, HO can be like that sometimes >.<

Worryingly it might be a downgraded product from the 2011-12 spec. After talking to Halfords bike staff he was telling me voodoo bikes have had a tendency to build a rep and then the bike gets a downgrade as a new model appears, certainly happened with the Bantu.

The current hoodoo was 600 and now reduced to 450, if new models showing as 479-89 then it sounds more likely that the guy was right.

All models get downgraded as time goes by. Just the way it is at the minute, parts are getting more expensive. They still will be good compared to of the entry level shite that Specialized and trek for example are releasing.

Just hope they improve the bottom bracket, everyone I know that's had a voodoo recently has had to have the bottom bracket replaced under warranty. I know it's not Halfords fault btw, so please don't read this as a rant

But other than that and the easily chipped paint, I can't really see how they can improve it at the price it is

Well I had a look today and as others have said they are just words with an item number at the moment. No info on when they are on sale or what they will be equipped with. All I can tell you is that the Hoodoos are £489.99 on the Halfords system right now and they will be available in the same 16", 18", and 20" sizes. It dosen't necessairly mean that is the RRP for it, nor does it mean that is the price it will first start at. It's been on the system at that price since mid December.

It would not surprise me if they drop the spec on it somewhere as Supersonic said, parts are getting more and more expensive for manufactures nowdays, and it's a common trend with our bikes to drop the spec in the recent models. Both boardman and Carrera dropped the spec of their bikes in their 2011/12 models from the 2009/10.

Just a little interesting note though, I heard on the grapevine that the Boardmans might possibly be changing from the SRAM components they currently have (Avid, Rockshox, SRAM drivetrain etc.), to Shimano drivetrain/brakes and Fox forks, which I think is for the better as I'm a Shimano guy all the way!
Also a Bikehut 'Trade card' is going to be introduced at some point in the future enabling employees/people in cycling retail profession to get trade prices on products like Evans cycles employees do. But you didn't hear these things from me! ;)
  • Does anyone have an further info on this by chance?

After much deliberation I decided to buy a Hoodoo only to find the 18" now appears to be out of stock in all my local stores (despite the website saying there are some left :( ) I don't know if that means a new model is imminent, and it's therefore worth waiting a bit longer?

    Cheers.

very slight changes: the fork lockout is neither here nor there, and the Gemini looks to be the OE name for the Auriga Comp (which no longer exists anyway).

Spec says there is, pic says there isn't.

Makes you wonder what else the description / spec has wrong.

It's halfords, I'd only believe the actual spec if I was sitting on the bike.
