Removing lockout return spring ('10 Revs RLT)

Hello,
I'd like to remove my remote lockout lever to declutter my bars, and I heard that you can then remove the return spring from the lockout assembly effectively turning the lockout to the standard turnkey style fork mount lockout.
Can this be done without fully taking apart the dampner does anyone know? Is it more hassle than its worth?
