Is this a fair price for a scott pro road bike

Seen this road bike and was wondering if it was any good for the money?

Aluminum frame, carbon forks. 18 speed shimano tiagra gears, 20" frame £300

    how old is it and how many miles has it done? that would be the determining factor.

    Looking online its an Scott afd pro 2004 from what I can tell online. It looks in good condition and well cared for by a loving ethusiast.

    It is a good bike but I wouldn't pay more than £250 or so for it.

    would there be any difference in this models tiagra gearset to a bike of today tiagra? Sorry this would be my first Road Bike so looking to learn more as I go along.

    Today's Tiagra is like Dura Ace from 2004 probably better

    They both look good. It all depends what kind of bike you want though... the Ridgeback has got mudguards and seems more like a workhorse whilst the btwin looks more a full racer.

    There is this one with Sora for £499 if you want something a bit cheaper. It should also be good as a starter bike.

    Gabriel your a great help. Wiggle main office depot is just 5 mins from my works. I shall include that primary use for the bike is commuting 7.5 miles to work & the odd social ride on the weekends etc. If you know of any good starter bikes any suggestions would be kindly recieved.

    the basic specialized allez is a great bike given the underlying frame quality.

    There is a cheaper with Triban with Sora for £429. That would be good too.

    I wouldn't spend too much money on a first bike. Sora or Tiagra are much of a muchness apart from one extra gear. To me that doesn't warrant spending a £150 more though as you can buy a helmet, some pedals, some shoes and some kit to get you going.

    If you really catch the bug you will want to buy a better bike down the lane anyway.

    If you intend to use the bike as a workhorse (everything) I would get a bike with mudguards or at least the possibility to get some in.
