gear cable liner
The routing of the cable to my front derailleur passes through a channel around the bottom bracket area before going up to the derailleur. In this area to prevent the cable rubbing directly on the carbon frame it has a liner of a plastic tube, the outside of which is about 2.4mm so significantly smaller than normal gear cable outers. Anyone know where I can get a replacement for this online? I've tried the usual CRC, wiggle, evans etc and drawn a blank. Many thanks. I only need a length of about 15cm.

I similarly couldn't find this online. I ended up carefully cutting open and old gear cable outer and removing the plastic tube within and using that - seems to have worked okay so far.
May be worth asking your LBS if they have any, or a cutting of gear cable outer that you can use to try.0 -
Yes, that's what I did too. It seems to work fine. In the process of taking apart the old bit of cable I did manage to spike myself on one of the bits of wire though... so be careful.0

yeah, spiking yourself on the cable wire isn't something I'd recommend - ouch.0

Buy a v-brake noodle and pull the liner out of it, only 2-3" long but enough for the BB shell I would think.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

I use this, i had some left over from a MTB job,

The tube is exactly what you want and the other bits and bobs come in handy on other jobs. If you dont want to spend £2.64 PM me i have some I could spare.0 -
Nokon do the cable liner. I have 5m of the stuff.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0

have you not got a cable guide on you BB shell? Its not right that your cable would be in direct contact with the carbon in any case. You should have a part like this:

If you do you should need no further liner, and if you dont, you should have.0
