One has to go.....

Guys/Gals,

I have a dilemma.......

I can only keep one of these, which is to be:

Felt Z6 2012 Tiagra (poo) group

or

Wilier La Triestina 2008 Veloce (nice) group

My mind says keep the Z6 with the full carbon as I can always change the group, but for some reason my heart is attached to the Wilier.

Any thoughts (offensive or not) greatly received.

Cheers

Matt

Why cant you keep both? If its because the Mrs says so - get rid of her instead. :D

Well she's not helping but space in the flat is at a premium and it's not realistic to get a new house just for extra bike storage, even though that is exactly what I want to do!!! :D

That sounds very reasonable to me - whats wrong with her? I have a 2 bedroom apartment - but have a balcony for bbq's and 2nd balcony for washing and maintaining the bike. I have a spare room with the Tacx Fortius permanently set up, and have a 24" monitor on a bracket on the wall right in front of it. Its all about getting your priorities right :lol:

Swap the groupsets over. You'd have a great bike then.

Don't think I can, FD is braze-on the Felt and band-on on the Campag, also aren't the cables different? Forgive me if I am being dense about this.

Is it particularly tense to do?

Have gone full hog and bought a new (to me) set up for the Felt:

    Record 10 Shifters
    Record 10 Rear Mech
    Record 10 Cassette
    Chorus Front Mech
    Chorus Brake Calipers

Just need to have a go at fitting now. Any tips?

Have you got an Ottoman bed? Ive got a whole bike and stacks stacks more all under a 4ft one. Bought one just to keep a bike under, losen the stem, twist the bars, take the front wheel off. Goes in easily. 2 mins. Might be a way of keeping the other bike.

Sounds like a top plan, unfortunately there isn't any room for another bed and what appears to be an infinite number of garments and shoes take up all the space under the current one. None of them mine I might add!

This is now ballooning into a a real headache of decision making.

Do I put the Record and chorus gruppo onto the Cannondale Synapse Carbon with FSA K-Force Light Standard Double (BB30) and Mavic Kysrium Elite wheelset and put the SRAM Apex Gruppo on the Felt with the FSA Omega compact and Mavic CXP 22s or put the Campag on the Felt and leave the Apex on the Synapse?

I think the Cannondale is the better frame and the crankset is better but with a standard double and a 28T Super Record Cassette will I be able to get up the hills? Obviously I know the answer to this question is "How fit are you?" but was interested in opinions. The Felt with the Apex 32T and compact crankset may be too low....

    Thoughts?

Put the cannondale forks on the felt, and the wilier frame on the felt, and then dance around the room with a kettle on your head. Everything will become clear.

Get stuck in and use google for help, best way to learn. BTW, have you purchased a new chain as well? If transferring the old one across you'll need a campag replacement pin and in theory at least, the Campag tool to fit it. Personally, I would opt for a KMC 10 speed chain instead as you can re-use the missing link connection, helpful for cleaning etc.
