HI, Four of us are planning a point to point from Venice to Milan (Ryanair cheap flight destinations). So were looking for budget places to stay as we cross the Dolomites. Does anyone have any suggestions as to websites etc for hostels or similar? Last year we crossed the Alps and found load of really great small hotels, but it doesnt seem so easy in Italy. One suggestion ive heard is Agriturismo (farm stays).
We plan to stay in or around - Belluno - Cortina - Santa Cristina (Val Gardina) - Prato Stelvio - Ponte di Leguno -Bergamo.

Lots of small hotels in Italy.

I'd try and/or tripadvisor. There are also lots of tourism websites especially

Agriturismi can be cheap but they can also be expensive. In that part of Italy, the word 'garni' is used widely for small (hopefully cheap) hotels. The term 'bed and breakfast' is also used a lot although again it can mean anything from somewhere cheap to somewhere expensive. There's also the term 'affitacamere' (rooms for rent).

The cheapness of the accommodation can depend on where you stay. Be aware that Belluno is relatively expensive, and Cortina is probably even more expensive. So I'd look at some of the smaller towns and villages rather than the main towns. Travelling outside the peak season (mid-July - mid-August) will also make a difference.

If there are four of you, you may find it worth checking with campsites - many have chalets they will often let for a night.

Hostel here: ... perina.htm there's also one in Bergamo.

(BTW - Just in case it wasn't a typo: it's Ponte di Legno not Leguno)

The mountain villages of tha Badia valley have a joint booking and info system - ... badia.html
It's all ski territory, loads of apartments and b&b (garni, as andy writes).
