Seatpost fused into steel alloy frame

The seatpost on my 1998 Rockhopper appears to have fused onto the steel frame. I've put a Brooks saddle on which is higher than the last saddle I had on it and want to drop the seatpost a fraction. How can this be done? Any tips for unfusing?

    Stick the seatpost in a vice, turn the frame. Good luck.

    Cut seatpost head off and get a sharp knife file. Cut 3 slots all the way down inside the seatpost being careful not to cut into frame, then crush the seatpost in a vice and it will collapse at the cuts. Then just pull pieces out and in future put some copper anti-sieze on before you insert new post and dont leave it for years on end take it out occasionally.
