I want to change the wiper seals on my Fox forks, which I've done before on others but when I came to remove the lowers the rebound side wouldn't come out. I followed the usual instructions, giving each side a tap with a socket on but no joy. I didn't want to get too rough with it in case I caused damage. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong or could try to get them off ?

nope, but they can be a bit of a pain. if you've done it before then just try again.

last time i did it i had to whack one of the legs much harder than previously to get it to shift.

Correct diagnosis Rob, just gave it a couple of big whacks and it freed no problem.

I had to whack mine, it is a bit worrying when the guide says a tap should do

i know, its by far the worst bit of the entire process - never particularly enjoy whacking expensive things with a mallet.

whacking obviously being a technical term.
