De Greaser

I am out a fortune from buying those de greaser spray can thingys. I have been searching and people have been saying they buy a supermarket brand citrus de greaser? Can anyone vouch for this stuff and know what its called? Or recommend any cheaper alternative? I have just purchased a chain tool, so Ill be looking something I can bath my chain in.

Diesel or white spirit. Cheap, effective, safe.

i use the Halfords citrus degreaser. its a tenner for about a litre but i buy it when they have their 3 for 2 offers. been using it for years now. go through a carton a year approx. cheap enough for me. got a cheap chain scrubber bath thingy from wiggle also. worth shopping around.

BTW its expensive but i also buy their hand cleanser stuff for about a fiver a pot. swarfega is just shite compared to it.

The one reviewer on that web site didn't think so. "Absolutely useless" and "I would give it 0 out of 5 if I could" were amongst his comments.

Lotus - I saw that review and don't think it's particularly fair. I have used it for all over cleaning and it works perfectly.

I think he was comparing to the green gunk (which is great for clothes and hands) which perhaps this is not so good for, but for cleaning bikes/bike parts? Absolutely ideal.

I bought if off the back of a recommendation on here and am glad I did.
