I am looking for a road bike for Sportives and Timetrials.
When I am fast enough I will buy a TT bike.
I have a budget of £1200.
I am not keen to have carbon and want a good groupset.
Any suggestions?

Sportive and Time Trial geometries are at completely different ends of the spectrum. Not to say you can't TT on any bike (you can), just that from a positional aspect it's apples and oranges.

You could buy a Scott Speedster and squeak the incremental gains out of the semi-aero frame I suppose, or just go to your LBS and find what's comfy and feel right.

If you're looking to TT as well then you probably don't need the relaxed geometry of a sportive bike as much as you think, my TCR SL is easily as comfortable as the Defy i used to have, even though the position is much more racy.
