Digital Mapping Options

I'm looking for access to digital maps which I can create routes and annotate.
Mapmyride is good but the maps aren't detailed enough when you print out, as is the same with GoogleMaps.
Has anyone used the Ordnance Survey digital option or any other suggestions?

    The online mapping services are useful, but, if you want detailed mapping data at high resolutions then it's worth considering using Basecamp and downloading and installing the maps on your PC/Mac. The maps are a couple of hundred Mb or so but you only need to download once.

    Mapyx Quo - the program is free, you buy the Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 tiles, but they are as cheap as chips compared with print versions. Quickest way to get routes into it is to do the route in Ridewithgps or similar, export the gpx file, then load that file into Mapyx. You can then print out the route on your Ordnance Survey map.

    Get a Satmap with full 1:50K OS Mapping with links to European maps as well. Nice big screen and easy to use.

    Used by emergency services such as mountain rescue as well.
