does compression clothing actually work?

can anyone recommend a good quality/value top and socks?

also anyone able to recommend a good base layer for cold/mild conditions as well as one for warm conditions?

thanks

I honestly don't know if compression works, people will argue both sides. I was a bit sceptical but a while back I started using skins recovery leggings after rowing, and I definitely thought my legs felt better afterwards, especially as I had an hour 15 minute drive home from training. Also used them as flight socks essentially for long journeys etc and again definitely felt a difference. So whether there are any physical/measurable improvements, I'm not sure, but I don't really care as my legs feel better and that's good enough for me.

Oh also, really recommend Craft base layers, especially the cool mesh superlight

No idea if compression works - however if you are after good value base layers keep an eye for an Aldi sale, I cannot fault their long sleeve base layers both the cycling ones and the snowboarding ones (although I cannot tell the difference tbh).
