Do you think this chain would be fine with a 10 speed SLX chain set and cassette http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=95983

Just thinking of buying one as a spare as they are cheap.

Yes, but doesn't seem particularly cheap.

Good job you said, I thought it was cheap until I compared it to a Shimano HG94 which I use anyway for only £2 more I'd rather use that.

they dont always come out Cheap but they are the best, the SL versions suffer stretch a lot quicker then the normal and L versions, but thats the price you pay for Lightweight!

Sorry guys, but I ran my first ever KMC chain after all the love here on these forums. Exactly 1 month later and 400km, and the thing was at 0.75 on my chain wear indicator. Wash and lube after every ride. It is now in the bin and a shimano chain fitted. Total garbage and I will never buy another.

Maybe washing and 'lubing' after every ride isn't the right idea.
Never owned a chain wear indicator, and my chains last a year or two of all condition riding.

  • on a KMC X9L i have generally been getting 1000mile from them before they hit the .75% stretch, which comes about roughly 14-15 months of riding, i'm also a heavy on the drivetrain type rider too, the SL version i got is wearing a Lot quicker and will prolly only last me half that time, but as the cassette was on its last new chain i'll run it until it dies, as i said before, price you pay for the weight!! All of my chains are cleaned post ride every ride (unless we get any dry dusty trails!!) with white spirit in the chain cleaner and lubed,

KMC chains are some of the strongest chains you can buy for bikes, they alao Make chains for shimano and many other chain peoples!!

I decided to buy one to give it a go, I did have a KMC chain on one of my other bikes and it seemed to go on forever despite going through some real crap last year.

Never had less than a year out of kmc chains, always found them good value, too.
