I need some weight loss advice please! The above build comes in at 32lbs. One of the problems is the LUST tyres, from which I can shave a pound by switching to standard highroller 2.3s (I don't actually run tubeless). As I'm no longer doing DH on the Moment I can afford to save weight in other areas, so the bash will come off... but where to go from there? I'd like to get this to below 30lb so that it has a significant weight advantage over the Torque which is 34lbs.

edit - wrote the weight down wrong, now corrected

Could probably save some weight on the finishing kit and maybe swapping out some of the slx bits, but I cant see the weight going down much more.

I'm thinking carbon bars, post and alternative cranks but I agree, that final pound will be hard to shift once the tyres are swapped out...

    Singlespeed.....

Or, finishing kit could go on a diet? other than that, without spending silly money, I reckon you could save a bit by not having High rollers, or if you are mad keen, go for the single ply, folding flavour.

Or accept that your dh option is actually pretty light.

yeah, tyres are going to be the first to go. I'll be advertising them tonight. Might try the Ardents as something new to try out. Carbon bars and post to shav a little weight, and I'll keep an eye out for a second hand XTR crankset.

Xtr cranks are forever coming up on eBay, decent condish ones are about £150 on avg, though you do get the odd bargain BIN. I'll keep an eye out.

I've now got some Conti Rubber Queen 2.2 Black Chili's which I can't wait to ride! I've a 2.4 which is pretty much my favourite tyre - fantastically grippy. They should shave a pound off of the weight and if I've a little time later, I'll get them fitted. Also coming is an Exotic carbon seatpost and some second hand Exotic carbon bars. Fingers crossed they'll save a load of weight and I'll be ever closer to this random number I picked as a weight goal... I think in reality I just need something to spend my money on...

With the addition of carbon bars and seatpost from Exotic and the removal of the e13, she's now at 28.6lbs! I did pick up some XTR M960s in the end but I'm going to drop them onto the Torque after some trimming of the spider. Further pics when I've sourced some lower profile chainring bolts now there's now outer or bash.

    Wow!
Your old bars and seatpost must have been fantastically heavy for you to save nearly 4lbs by just swapping those, the tyres and removing the bashguard!

Yeah your right... I forgot the original reading was 32lbs. I saved a little over a pound in the tyres alone, the bash is pretty heavy, half a pound+ I think. And weight saving with the carbon was negligible really. I'm weighing with a cheap suitcase scale that's lifted by hand, my readings have probably got quite a large margin of error

    Great looking bike.

    Posh arty pics :D

I love my moment to bits, just seems happy everywhere. How are you getting on with the long cage rear mech with single up front? I've got the same cassette and a 34t up front and the chain is pretty noisy.

Cheers. The Moments are pretty crackin. Done the lot on this, xc races, epic rides, DH and Alps trips... Don't know how the meech will fair yet, no rides on the new set up. But I've got the chain pretty short. If it's rattly, I'll save up for a clutch mech. I think there's very few of us Ellsworth riders on here, we need a club!

Didn't have any problems around Jacobs Ladder and Chapel Gate at the weekend - and there's some pretty rough descents. I do have the entire driveside stay wrapped in inner tube with an extra few layers close to the mech's knuckle. Didn't feel it was especially noisy or rattly. You could double check your chain length to see if there's any excess which could be removed.

Goodbye 28lb trail build, hello 33lb enduro build!

Now with Lyrik RC2DH 170, internally reduced to 155mm, Flows on SS Evos, DH bars and stem, Ti sprung DHX5, 10mm thru rear.
I've put this build together to take it DHing at Antor Stiniog this week and to test which parts I'd like to use for the Hammers gravduro. I'd like to keep the bike as light as possible for that so I'll see which parts feel like they give me the greatest advantage over the trail build then mix and match as appropriate.
An update on the 11-36:32t, it's great. I'm not missing out on lower gears and so far haven't lacked in top end, but I might find the 11:32t isn't fast enough for DHing but again, bring on Antor!
