Keep seeing these on riders.

the third rider from the front, on the shorts, extends out much further than the other riders, are they quad compresion leg type things?

    Dunno, but they look properly naff. The UCI will probably ban them anyway, whatever they are...

    Why would the UCI ban them? Is that suppose to be a joke I've failed to notice..

    It seems to be compressing the cyclist's leg, so I'd assume OP is correct.

    Well spotted btw, never noticed it before.

    Thing is thou i only ever see them when its cold or cold and wet!

    They banned long socks for the same reason?
    Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

    seems them on Uk road races as well.

    They look to keep quads (etc) warm in nasty conditions.

    They're literally just cut down leg warmers - they call them thigh warmers.

    If it's cold enough to need knee warmers then it must be cold enough to need full leg too! My guess is that James just finds them comfortable!
