Came down this slight incline this morning, will be climbing it this evening. It touches on 33%

BTW does VeloViewer have the best viewer of hill profiles for segments?

Easy now tiger these-them-there London folks have no idea that gradients go above 3% you'll just confuse them.

Oi, the ramp out of the basement must be at least 10% & 30 metres long!

    Eh

    Distance: 2.7 km
    Elevation: 107 m
    Grade: 4.0 %

Is this the basement ramp / sex dungeon as previously mentioned above ^

and the measurement are in foreign FAIL!!!

    Overall error: -4 m

So its in FACT a descent then

One does not measure such things why that would be common

Funny how those that would have been the usual suspects are keeping a dignified silence.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

I read the steepest bit as 20% or 1 in 5 in old money. 50% is nigh on unrideable.

Do like that Edgeworth climb, though. The North Downs aren't far away, but they're not quite a match for the Cotswolds.

Hampton Hill. I reckon that should outdo the likes of the molehill that is Balham Hill. It must go up by a good 6' over a distance of 200 yards. Beat that.

True enough, I don't believe GPS is accurate enough over short distances to be able to pinpoint a gradient. There usually seems to be a lag in the readings too. It takes a few seconds for the altitude readings to change, then they carry on rising for a few metres after I've reached the top.

The last time I rode up there I was met head on by a huge Argos lorry. He must have been following his sat nav because cars struggle to pass each other.

I've had a few hairy moments on the way down, often avoid it unless I see a car head down first, leave a bit of a gap so you'll see them slow for approaching vehicles.

Avoided it today and managed to bag a top 10 spot on this route: http://veloviewer.com/segment/1764534 but I think I did it the wrong way round according to the segment page.

Nice time. I'll have to try that one. I'm often on those roads as I only live in Sunniside. Can't see me getting anywhere near the top ten.

If I can grab a top 10 on a segment with a hill surely anyone can. See you on the hills.
