Lake District - Loadpot Hill

Hopefully going riding on Monday. As the weather has been and should still be pretty calm, I thought I'd go for a more natural ride rather than heading to Gisburn or Whinlatter.

Got a route for Loadpot Hill, but it says some tracks are not good all year round. Anyone got any experience of this route? Is it advisable at this time of year?

Start at Pooley Bridge, over Askham Fell towards Butterwick. Turn right and head up to High Street, right again round Loadpot Hill, down to Cockpit, sharp left back down to Ullswater then back to Pooley Bridge. 18 miles.

    Not sure what the conditions will b like, although it's generally rideable all year round there. If you're going to be at the cockpit make sure you head on the singletrack to Howtown before heading back to Pooley Bridge... cracking fun!

    Did the above route today, weather was cracking and the views are pretty spectacular from the top, made up for the push up there, found it really tough going.

    And you're right about that descent, a good end to the loop!

    Would imagine a bit of a bogfest heading up to Loadpot hill, it's been a tad on the damp side!
