Time to say hello to my new Trance 29er X1 and a farewell to my Anthem.

The Trance currently weighs in at 13.4kg :o it will be going on a diet soon

Love the colour scheme on the trance over the anthem. Why are you changing from the anthem to the trance?
Constantly trying to upgrade my parts. It is a long road ahead as things are so expensive for little gain. n+1 is always the principle in my mind.
  • Great bikes!

I've just bought an Anthem X29 0 (2012 model), I had a Lapierre Zesty before that, gotta say at this early stage in the ownership that 29ers are all good!

Moving back to your sweet rides, how did you get on with the American Classic 29er wheels? Are they lighter/stiffer than the Giant OEM wheels?

Loved the Anthem just wanted something with a bit more travel. The AC wheels are stiffer and lighter than stock wheels
  • Thanks.
  • Did you rate the Ritchey stem?

Yeah great stem looks good too, would be running it on my trance if it was a normal size lol
  • Sorry, I thought it was the Ritchey stem that will fit the OverDrive 2 1 1/4" steerer, they're on eBay for £67.99.

    Nice!

How are you finding it on the trails? As good as the raved reviews as I'm trying to think of a reason to not put a reserve payment on an x1.

It's awesome on the trails. Feels right at home and changes direction much better than the Anthem

Hi I ride an Anthem x4 2011 and am considering upgrading to a trance x2 or 29er x1 but like most people that post 29er vs 26er threads are uncertain what to do.
I'll definitely try to test both but I don't want to make a mistake of not buying one over the other.
i bought the anthem as it was a good discounted price but I always though I might have been better off with a trance for the type of riding that I do.
I don't want to make that mistake again and want to be sure before i part with my cash.
You are obviously very happy with the 29er, looks nice, how does it ride?
