My sort of Road bike....

Hi guys,

As part of my training plan for this years MTB season including again the SDW100 I am planning to do a bit more road work than last year....but I dont have the right bike. So for now i am riding my old trusted Claud Butler MTB with just a bit more road suited tyres. oday i went on a 60k ish lap round Berkshire and Hampshires lanes, very nice indeed.

So, as you can i did not too bad for the old bike, but i must say its pretty heavy at almost 15kg! And i wonder how much quicker i could be if i do some upgrades or even get a new road bike sub 10kg?

Any thougths?

    I am thinking of maybe checking if i can upgrade the wheel size to 28" as its currently 26! Anyone know if thats ok? And worth it?

    Someone may correct me but I don't think you can go changing the size of your wheels, the frame and forks just won't fit.

    Worth it? almost certainly not. Possible? I doubt if a) the frame will have enough clearance (height-wise) and b) if the brake blocks could be adjusted up far enough to reach the brake track of a larger wheel. Dropout width may be another issue.

    Would be better to pick up a pair of MTB slicks if you are planning on riding mainly roads with it. Otherwise, leave as is.
