Otherwise generally stock apart from Tifosi Seatpost and Charge Spoon.

Weight? Who cares. It's still plenty fast.

  • I knew you were going to post it!

The rims have been fitted so that you picture them with the sticker on the top and the valve at the bottom, otherwise they appear the wrong way round... 8)
    How do the wheels ride?

  • Really lovely mate, only went round the block as it's chucking it down out there.

I have Campagnolo on mine... you just have to make a few modifications... Novatec also sells the Campagnolo free hub for that MTB hub, which s quite unique.
Personally I would try and get hold of an older groupset for a commuting bike. In pre-hollowtech/ultra-torque times, BBs were better designed and so were the Ergo levers, at least Campagnolo ones.
I have sourced a 9 speed Veloce/Daytona group set, which is the dogs

    :):) like that...
  • Hi, loving that Genesis and I'm currently thinking of getting one for my longish commute.
I was wondering if you could advise me on tyres width and the guards model. I read somewhere the guards won't fit with 35mm rubber and I will be planning on replacing the CX 35mm Contis with possibly Marathons 30mm.
    What can you tell me?
Thanks is advance and safe riding this season,
    Greg

PS. How tall are you and what's the bike size? I'm 5'10" and will be test riding 54cm although by the size chart I should be getting 56cm (my roadie friends recommend smaller frame for busy london roads).

I am as tall as you and ride a 56, but a 54 would have been better maybe. You can use any tyre you like, as for guards, no idea, I have never wanted to use them

  • Echo that , mine us a 56 and I'm 5 ft 10. A 54 would have been better IMO.

Fittting the front guards to the fork mounts, I like it!

Still haven't put mudguards on mine but I'm running 37mm tyres so not sure which ones to go for, P45 Chromoplastics defnitely fit with the stock tyres.

I don't think Apex would be that much of an upgrade either, agree with Ugo

The Tiagra it comes with is pretty good... I only fitted Campagnolo as I was dismantling another bike and I had the group set as extra... I thought better to keep that and flog the Tiagra... but really, it was flawless

  • Yeah, to be honest, given how awful the conditions ahve been, it's running as well as ever with minimal upkeep, clean down, lube, works. Running a SRAM cassette mind (stays more silver) and a YBN chain.

Did 30 miles today home in the rain. It was just lovely.

Time to say goodbye. Will be advertising it shortly. Time to get something lighter.

I will be transferring the wheels to whatever I get, then selling this with, effectively, new wheels.

    What are you getting?

    Handmade Shand?

I always aim to change the CdF, but I always end up keeping it... it is just right for the job...

Probably a Boardman CX, just that bit faster and lighter.

Then, I think, an Equilibrium on C2W scheme in the summer.

So, carbon, alu and steel stable.

Apex mostly installed. Waiting on a braze on adapter and a Fizik Aliante Black/White.

Thinking about a wet white WCS seatpost..............

Done. I realise the white stem may not be to everyone's taste. But I reckon a white WCS seatpost will take care of that ;)

Just a shame I have to put the 'guards back on and get it dirty. Ah well.

It was a tricky choice. I was torn between Veloce (in Silver) and Apex. Apex was cheaper in the end as I hocked the cassette and am also selling the brakes. Once I shift the Tiagra stuff cost to change will be about £150. And no special tools or need to buy a different cassette. Would have liked Campag but I think black suits this frame very well.

With Campag you would have had to invest in an Ambrosio cassette too or use a Shiftmate as I do.

Aye. Not complicated but just more complicated. Indexed the SRAM within minutes. Stiffer than my Red setup but pretty good overall.

I've got the Day 1 SS disc and I changed the tyres to Marathon Racer 35c. They are very comfy but roll well and haven't been off since I fitted them - which is always a good thing.

Enough tread for the odd towpath excursion too. No problem with mudguard either.
I'm left handed, if that matters.

Same here... I have replaced the Gatorskin 25 with some Vittoria Randonneur PRO 32... a revelation... they take anything from gravel to stones to light mud and on the road they are not perceivably slower... I think you need to stab them with a knife if you want to puncture
