Spesh epic with brain or Scott Spark with twin lock?

Hi,

Roadie here, but did a spesh demo day over cannock chase and want to give mountain biking a good go.

As a self confessed spesh fanboy I like the epic. My budget will just stretch to the base Epic at £2600.

However, as a self confessed geek I checked out the comptition and I like the look of the Scott Spark 940 which seems camparable to the base epic (I might be wrong, Im not too familier with mountain bike groupsets and equipment)

Im geuessing you cant really go wrong with either bike, so a question to those that have used brain and twinlocks... What do you prefer and why?

    Can't talk for the Spec, however have ridden & raced my Spark and love the twin lock the bike climbs like a dream without it on when set up properly however with it it climbs like you wouldn't believe. I'm sure the Spec system works pretty well to as see quite a few of them about & understand the "brain" part of the system is good but I didn't really like it when I tried it as I prefer to be in control.
    Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

    Agree that you need to test a Spark. I'm the opposite of CYD, I really don't like how the Spark pedals pretty badly unless you use the TwinLoc constantly, and I don't like that it stiffens the fork as well. Much more one for just riding the bike, which the Epic does very well.
