I am looking for a new pair of shoes and am looking to spend around £100. There are some reasonable deals left on 2012 stock and am looking at Bont A Threes

and Specialized BG Expert

Does anyone have experience of either of these or any other recommendations in that price bracket?

I purchased a pair of dhb R2.0 with the carbon sole from Wiggle...£67.00 with the
£5 discount for registering for the news letter (again) I'm no expert and only new
to road riding but they seen very good for the money.0 -
That's not a bad shout, will have a look at those. It cuts out paying for the brand and other dhb gear I have is decent.0

I've just bought a pair of these:

If you're open to SPDs, then these come recommended, they're very comfortable, plenty of scope to adjust your foot position and you can actually walk in them! They also look like road shoes, which I like...0 -

...thats a good deal on the Spesh...I've been wearing BG Comps for the last year and love them..nice roomy toe-box and really like the Boa adjuster - unlike some of my chums, I'm never in a hurry to take them off at coffe stops etc..
...my first pair were DHB's but found them cramped in the toe box which got noticable on longer rides...
..when I was buying the Spesh's, I tried on and failed with Mavics, Louis Garneau and Shimano..all for the same reason, the toe thing...probably just my feet (used to have the same issue with running shoes...)0 -
What size do you need? What shape are your feet?
Giro's are available from here for just over £100.

I generally like a bit of room around the toes so the two I had found looked like they gave lots of space in that area. Good to know the Specialized are roomy. Think I will go for the Specialized then.
I hear that Italian shoes, Sidi, Giro can be a little narrow fitting generally? A great deal on the Giros...0 -
Thats it! Specialized if you want some wide fitting shoes, Giro are definitely narrower around the toes.0

Dont get hung up on carbon soles, nice but really nobody knows what the sole is other than you and the stiffness diference is so minimal you wont notice.

Generally, the difference in stiffness between non carbon soled shoes and carbon soled shoes is very obvious. From the moment you clip in.0 -
These...

They came out top on a Cycling Plus review of shoes last year and i can vouch for their build, stiffness and fit. A very good shoe and not had a single problem with mine. They look the part too.0 -
I concur that carbon soles make a difference.
Take your pick from these, superb value:

Same sole, different ratchets. Apply NYSAVE10 for an extra 10 per cent off.0 -

I used to think that to justify why I paid extra for carbon soles, I still ride with them but wont buy another pair, spesh comps are far more comfortable, there is such a thing as too stiff, marketing hype.0
